Our Little Tagaytay

Don’t get me wrong. We don’t own the place. As I’ve said on my first blog about Ilijan, there’s this place in Pagkilatan, Batangas City, that my family calls our Little Tagaytay, offering a beautiful scenery on top of a mountain, overlooking the sea. We pass by this mountain (called Monte Maria) when we go to Ilijan, but never got chances to take pictures before because it was either the sun was too hot (although it’s always cool and windy up there, we still don’t want our face to get sunburned) or rainy to stay there. Luckily, just yesterday, Mother Nature gave us a chance to take pictures and share the hidden beauty of this place.

This used to be the target spot for building the largest statue of Mama Mary, larger than Brazil’s, but somehow the plan was changed. The construction was shifted to Tagaytay, instead. I found the story in this website. It was sad for Batanguenos to have that happen. Our Little Tagaytay would have been the perfect site. Still, a Catholic Church stands up there (which we missed to visit) holding mass from time to time and some remnants of the unfinished construction. All my family felt while taking pictures at that place was a mixture of awe and sadness.
